Jolliet continued to lead explorations. In 1679, he explored the Hudson Bay and was an expert mapmaker. On November 2, 1693, he petioned the government to explore the coast of Labrador and in April 1694 with his three oldest sons he sailed north out of the St. Lawrence River to go north to explore Eskimo lands. He died at age 55 in 1700.
